Hello from Berlin!

We made it to Berlin today at about 2pm. It is about 11:30 on Sunday night. Germany is beautiful! We started out in Bacharach in the Rhine Valley. We took a day trip yesterday to Cochen in the Mosel Valley, and stumbled on a wine festival where we met a group of American soldiers and their wives. We had a lot of fun! We got up early this morning and took a train to Berlin, and went sightseeing today to the Berlin Wall and to the Checkpoint Charlie museum. A lot of history here! It is so clean, nice, and the Germans are so friendly! They love their fried food though...good thing we are walking a lot. Tomorrow we are going to do a bike tour of Berlin, and Tuesday morning we are heading to Prague. So far, the trip has been so much fun!!! We are loving Germany! Talk to you soon!

Our room in Bacharach, the bed and breakfast ran by a German lady. She was so nice but all she knew in English was "tis OK?" Bacharach is a tiny town in the Rhine Valley, and the main attraction there is the river boat cruise.

The little town of Bacharach.

The town view with the river...from a rickety view tower we climbed up.

We took the boat cruise up the Rhine Valley, and stopped at St. Goar where Rhinefels Castle is located. This is a view of the river from the top of the castle.
